The Anthem approach
When damage is too extensive for a filling but a crown would sacrifice healthy tooth structure, inlays and onlays are the elegant middle path — custom porcelain pieces bonded precisely into (or onto) the tooth.
They preserve the maximum amount of your natural tooth, strengthen what remains, and blend invisibly. It's conservative dentistry at its most refined.
- Preserves far more natural tooth than a crown
- Stronger and longer-lasting than large fillings
- Custom-milled porcelain, invisibly matched
- Strengthens the remaining tooth structure

FAQ
Porcelain Inlays & Onlays — your questions, answered.
What's the difference between an inlay and an onlay?
An inlay fits within the grooves between a tooth's cusps; an onlay extends over one or more cusps. Both are bonded porcelain, chosen based on the damage.
How long do inlays and onlays last?
Typically 15–20 years — considerably longer than a large composite filling in the same position.
Why choose an onlay over a crown?
A crown requires reshaping the entire tooth; an onlay preserves everything healthy. When an onlay can do the job, it's the more conservative choice — and the one we'll recommend.
