The Anthem approach

Complex surgical needs shouldn’t mean a referral to an outside surgeon across town. Anthem Dental performs a full scope of oral and maxillofacial procedures in-house: impacted tooth removal, bone and gum grafting, and pre-prosthetic surgery to prepare for implants.

Every surgical case is planned on cone-beam CT imaging and executed under local anesthesia by the same team that handles your cleanings.

This category covers the more involved procedures that support other treatment — preparing a site for a dental implant, grafting bone lost to years of missing teeth, or removing an impacted tooth that a simple extraction can't reach. Whatever the procedure, you'll get an honest recommendation and a clear plan before anything is scheduled.

  • Full surgical scope under one roof
  • 3D CT-guided planning on every case
  • One team from consultation through healing
  • Continuity of care — no unfamiliar referrals

FAQ

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery — your questions, answered.

Will I need to be referred to an outside surgeon?

Rarely. Most oral surgery — extractions, impacted teeth, grafting, implant site preparation — is performed right here. For the rare case that needs a hospital setting, we coordinate everything.

How is comfort managed during oral surgery?

Local anesthesia, an unhurried pace, and a clear explanation of each step before it happens. Tell us if you are anxious and we will work with you.

How should I prepare for oral surgery?

We provide specific instructions per procedure — typically fasting guidelines where they apply, arranging a ride home, and stocking soft foods. You'll never be left guessing.

What's recovery generally like after oral surgery?

It varies by procedure, but most patients manage with over-the-counter pain relievers and a few days of soft foods. We'll give you specific aftercare instructions and are available if anything feels off during healing.

Does insurance help cover oral surgery?

Many PPO plans cover a portion of surgical procedures, especially medically necessary ones like impacted tooth removal or grafting. We verify your benefits and give you a written estimate before any surgery is scheduled.

How is oral surgery different from a routine extraction?

A routine extraction removes a tooth that's fully visible above the gumline. Oral and maxillofacial surgery covers more involved procedures — impacted teeth, bone and gum grafting, and site preparation for implants — that require accessing bone or tissue beneath the surface.

What to expect before you book

If you have not been to one of our offices before, what happens at a first visit walks through the whole appointment step by step — what we look at, what it costs, and what we will never do without telling you first. Walk-ins are welcome at every office, though calling ahead means less waiting.

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is performed in-house, so nothing here is referred out to a stranger across town. Meet the team who would be treating you, and read how the practice works if you want the fuller picture. We are in-network with the major PPO plans and also accept Medi-Cal Dental (Denti-Cal) and IEHP — see the full list and what it means for your bill.

Choose whichever office is easiest for you: all 3 are here, each with its own hours, parking and directions.
