About Winchester

Winchester Road, and the routes south and west

Winchester is an unincorporated community in Riverside County, about 8 miles southwest of Hemet, with French Valley, Murrieta, Menifee, Hemet, Homeland and Temecula around it. State Route 79 runs through Winchester and, heading south, becomes Winchester Road into Temecula, where it meets I-15 in the north of the city.

Following that road is the most direct way to Anthem Dental - Temecula, off Overland Drive at 29049 Overland Dr, Suite C, Temecula. Free parking throughout the plaza lot, with accessible spaces near Suite C.

Two offices to choose from

Menifee also borders Winchester, and Anthem has an office there too. Which one suits you depends on the day:

  • Temecula — Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 7 PM. Best for weekday evenings.
  • Menifee, Menifee Town Center at 30145 Antelope Road, Suite 105, Menifee — Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM. The option for Saturdays.

Both are led by Dr. Henry Abraham, so you can book at whichever is more convenient. Winchester is spread out, and from homes on its northern and eastern edges the trip to Menifee can be comparable to the trip south to Temecula — it is worth checking both routes in a map app, at the time of day you would travel, before settling on one.

Root canal therapy, without the folklore

Root canals have a reputation they no longer deserve, and it keeps people from getting a tooth treated while it can still be saved. The procedure itself is straightforward:

  • The tooth is numbed thoroughly before anything else happens — you are told before each step.
  • A small opening lets the infected or inflamed pulp inside the tooth be removed.
  • The canals are cleaned, shaped and sealed so bacteria cannot return.
  • Back teeth, which take the most chewing force, usually need a crown afterwards to protect them from cracking.

For most people the tooth feels better soon after the infection is cleared than it did before treatment, because the source of the ache is gone. The alternative — extraction — is sometimes the right call, and when it is you will hear so, along with the options for replacing the tooth. From Winchester, a root canal and its crown usually mean two or three trips, so ask for the visits to be planned together.

Insurance

Both offices take the major PPO plans, Denti-Cal and IEHP; uninsured patients can use the new-patient special for a first exam and X-rays.
