Wildomar and the I-15 corridor

Wildomar is one of Riverside County's newer cities — it incorporated in 2008 — though the name is far older: it combines the names of its founders, William Collier, Donald Graham and Margaret Collier Graham. The city is bordered by Lake Elsinore to the north, Menifee to the east and Murrieta to the south, and Interstate 15 runs straight through it.

The town is older than the city. Its founders made the first payment on the land in 1883, and the railroad depot opened near what is now Clinton Keith Road on January 1, 1884. Today Wildomar keeps pockets of open land, including the protected Iodine Springs Reserve.

Which way to drive

Because I-15 cuts through the middle of the city, the freeway is close to most Wildomar homes, and the direction you take depends on the day. Heading north on I-15 puts you in Lake Elsinore, Wildomar's neighbor on that side. Heading south takes you through Murrieta — where I-215 joins I-15 from the north — and on into Temecula, which has three full I-15 interchanges.
