French Valley: a large community without a city of its own

French Valley is an unincorporated census-designated place — and, since Rubidoux became part of Jurupa Valley, the most populous one in Riverside County. It has Menifee and Winchester to the north, Murrieta to the west and south, and Temecula to the south. It has no city government of its own, and Temecula, roughly 7 miles away, is its nearest large city.

It has grown quickly: the census counted 23,067 residents in 2010 and 35,280 in 2020. The community covers about 10.9 square miles at an elevation of roughly 1,370 feet, with the Tucalota Hills among the rises around it.

Schools, and after-school appointments

Most of French Valley is served by the Temecula Valley Unified School District, while parts of the northwest fall to Murrieta Valley Unified, or to Menifee Union with Perris Union High School District for grades 9–12. There is no public high school inside French Valley itself, so many teenagers already travel toward Temecula or Murrieta each day — which makes an after-school appointment in Temecula a natural fit.
