Dental Exams & Cleanings
The quiet ritual behind every lasting smile.

The Anthem approach
A great smile is rarely an accident. Twice-yearly exams and professional cleanings are the foundation of everything we do at Anthem Dental — an unhurried appointment where we assess every tooth, your gums, your bite, and your existing dental work with digital X-rays and intraoral cameras.
Our hygienists remove plaque and tartar that home care can't reach, then polish your teeth to a clean, glassy finish. You leave with a clear picture of your oral health and a plan that respects your time and budget.
Every comprehensive exam also includes an oral cancer screening and a periodontal (gum) evaluation — two quiet checks, built into the same visit, that catch problems long before they become painful or expensive. Because Dr. Henry Abraham sees patients of every age at this practice, not as a pediatric specialty office, a child's first cleaning and a grandparent's routine checkup happen under the same roof, with the same familiar team.
- Early detection of decay, gum disease, and oral cancer
- Digital X-rays with minimal radiation
- Gentle, thorough hygiene visits
- A written plan — never surprise dentistry

FAQ
Dental Exams & Cleanings — your questions, answered.
How often should I have a dental exam and cleaning?
Most patients benefit from a professional exam and cleaning every six months. If you have gum disease or a history of decay, Dr. Henry Abraham may recommend more frequent visits.
Do exams hurt?
No. Exams and routine cleanings are comfortable for most patients, and we always work at your pace. If you're anxious, tell us — we go at your pace and explain each step before it happens.
What does a new patient visit cost without insurance?
Anthem Dental offers new patient exams and digital X-rays for $125, and we are in-network with the major PPOs including Delta Dental, Aetna and Cigna. We also accept Medi-Cal Dental (Denti-Cal) and IEHP.
What actually happens during a comprehensive exam?
We review your health history, take digital X-rays, examine every tooth and your bite, screen your soft tissues for anything unusual, and chart your gum health — then walk through what we found together, on screen, before recommending anything.
My gums bleed a little when I floss — should I be concerned?
Bleeding gums are never entirely normal, even if it seems minor. It's usually an early sign of gum inflammation that responds well to a professional cleaning and better home care — worth mentioning at your next visit rather than waiting it out.
Do you see children for exams and cleanings?
Yes. Anthem Dental is a general dentistry practice, not a pediatric specialty office, so Dr. Henry Abraham sees patients of every age — from a child's first cleaning through routine care well into retirement.
Will I need X-rays at every visit?
No — frequency depends on your individual risk of decay and when you last had imaging. We take only what's clinically needed to see what a visual exam can't, using low-radiation digital X-rays.

What to expect before you book
If you have not been to one of our offices before, what happens at a first visit walks through the whole appointment step by step — what we look at, what it costs, and what we will never do without telling you first. Walk-ins are welcome at every office, though calling ahead means less waiting.
Dental Exams & Cleanings is performed in-house, so nothing here is referred out to a stranger across town. Meet the team who would be treating you, and read how the practice works if you want the fuller picture. We are in-network with the major PPO plans and also accept Medi-Cal Dental (Denti-Cal) and IEHP — see the full list and what it means for your bill.
Choose whichever office is easiest for you: all 3 are here, each with its own hours, parking and directions.
