Weekend emergencies in Menifee

A Saturday option when the rest of the week is over

Teeth tend to break on weekends — a hard piece of food at a Friday dinner, a fall at a Saturday game. Anthem Dental - Menifee is the one Anthem office open on Saturday (10 AM to 6 PM), and it keeps the same hours Monday through Friday. The office is in Menifee Town Center at 30145 Antelope Road, Suite 105, Menifee; free parking throughout the Menifee Town Center lot, with accessible spaces near Suite 105.

Menifee's main routes are Interstate 215 and Newport Road, so patients coming from Sun City, Romoland or Perris usually reach us along the freeway, and Canyon Lake residents come in on Railroad Canyon Road.

A crown or filling came out — what to do until you're seen

• Keep the crown. Rinse it and store it in a small bag or container; it can sometimes be cleaned and re-cemented.
• Do not glue it back with household or super glue — that can damage the tooth and make a proper repair harder.
• Chew on the other side and avoid very hot, cold or sticky foods, which the exposed tooth may be sensitive to.
• If the tooth is sharp against your tongue or cheek, a small piece of sugar-free gum or dental wax from a pharmacy can cover the edge for a few hours.
• Call us. A lost crown that is not painful may be scheduled for the next available visit; one that hurts, or a broken tooth underneath, is worked in sooner.

Because Menifee closes on Sunday, a problem that starts late Saturday is worth a call before 6 PM even if you think it can wait — we would rather tell you it can wait than have you guess. Outside office hours, use the emergency room for swelling that is spreading or any trouble breathing or swallowing.

• Your dental plan card — or, for Medi-Cal Dental or IEHP, the Medi-Cal card — and a photo ID.

Paying for an emergency visit

The Menifee office is in-network with Aetna, Ameritas, Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, Delta Dental, Guardian, MetLife, United Concordia and UnitedHealthcare, and it also accepts Medi-Cal Dental and IEHP members' coverage. Benefits are checked before treatment, and the cost of anything beyond the exam goes on paper first. Without insurance, a new patient can use the $125 exam and X-ray offer (new patients only), and CareCredit can spread a larger bill.

The follow-up

Many emergencies end with a second appointment: a crown after a broken tooth takes two visits, and root canal treatment can too. Children and weekend sports

A chipped or knocked-out tooth from a fall at a Saturday game is worth a call straight away, and Saturday emergency visits are booked here. If a baby tooth has been knocked out, leave it out — putting it back can harm the adult tooth forming underneath — and bring the child in.

Coming from Canyon Lake, Romoland or Perris

Railroad Canyon Road is Canyon Lake's direct road into Menifee, and Goetz Road links its eastern side through Quail Valley. From Romoland and Perris, State Route 74 and I-215 are the usual ways in; I-215 runs through the middle of Menifee.
